Energy Conservation, Frying Performance Key to Frymasters' Success in Food Industry
Date : November 13th, 2006
Operating an efficient and profitable kitchen is imperative for success. Even the smallest waste adds up over time and can bring catastrophic bottom-line results. The New York Times reports that billion is wasted each year due to inefficient foodservice equipment. As a result, it is no wonder that energy conservation is one of the hottest topics in foodservice today.
For decades, energy conservation and high performance have been hot topics at Frymaster. The company’s leadership has always understood the positive bottom-line impact high-efficiency fryers deliver, especially over time.
The Reedville Café, located in Hillsboro, Oregon, is one example of the savings Frymaster equipment delivers. The casual family diner is known for its traditional fare of burgers and fries and has a thriving offsite catering and event business as well. In 2005, Reedville Café purchased three energy-efficient gas fryers from Frymaster. According to a 2006 Energy Star® report, the fryers generated an annual savings of more than ,800. Using 2005 gas rates, the payback period will be less than four years.
“The new fryers provide noticeable benefits beyond typical energy savings,” says Rice VanBeveren, owner of Reedville Café. “They offer a better filtration system that is safer and easier to run, helping prevent accidental oil burns. The computerized cook time increases product consistency as it measures internal temperature, reducing customer health risks. In addition, the fryers are on rollers, allowing them to be moved to clean the kitchen floor space.”
Frymaster is proud of its high-efficiency gas and electric fryers.
The Frymaster H55 and Dean HD Series are specifically designed for high-production gas frying. The H55, with its efficiency rating of more than 55 percent, ranks at the top of the list for Energy Star gas fryers. All have superior production capacity and lower idle rates, and provide superior ease in cleaning. Electronic ignition and melt cycles, turbo-jet infrared burners, solid-sate controllers and a centerline temperature sensor are standard features on all the company’s high-efficiency fryers.
The new E4 series represents the next generation in Frymaster electric fryers. With Energy Star ratings approaching 90%, the E4 series combines innovative design with the latest technology to maximize performance and energy conservation. The enhanced features and consistent energy savings of the E4 deliver just what operators need. This includes pulsing solid state contactors tightly modulating current to the heating element for efficient and precise temperature control, a sealed cylindrical housing allowing the swing-up elements to rotate smoothly and quietly while protecting sensitive electrical and mechanical components from oil and cleaning solution contamination, and full access to the open frypot for safe and easy cleaning.
Many products in the Frymaster portfolio, including the models mentioned, qualify for the EnerLogicTM seal awarded by parent-company Enodis. This seal identifies equipment within the Enodis family of brands that demonstrate the best in energy savings and environmental responsibility. Before receiving the EnerLogic seal, all equipment must meet specific criteria within a qualifications portfolio.
Within the EnerLogic program, different types of products have different standards, depending on the type of energy and conservation benefits involved. EnerLogic combines criteria utilized by the California Energy Commission, the ENERGY STAR rating program and the Federal Energy Management Program.
